Settling in to Portugal

We are having a successful visit to Portugal working on getting a lot of little things ticked off to make it easier to settle in when we return for good in December (fingers crossed).
We spent our first day (Thursday) getting a bunch of the necessities for living in our rental — sheets, towels, toilet paper, basic groceries before crashing hard mid-afternoon since we got virtually no sleep on the plane ride over.

Friday morning we drove south to see our friends Jeff and Jolene in Vau-Obidos. They have a beautiful home near the Lagoa de Obidos, but they are returning to the U.S. Fortunately for us they had a car for sale that we were interested in and a few hours later we were driving home in our own car.

Sunday morning we got up and went to the Canil Municipal in Vila Nova de Poiares to help take the shelter dogs for a walk. We had a great time. Jay got to walk Bolt and I got Jack. Jack was the newest dog to the shelter so the other dogs were excited for their first opportunity to get to interact with him. After our walk we stopped at a cafe for breakfast.

Today we spent the afternoon getting car insurance and renters insurance. Thanks to a recommendation from our friends Bill and Marcus, we found a fantastic agent who made the process simple.
